SLSA ft. Surfline Shortboard Surfing Competition

The SLSA committee has met and we have new date for the SLSA ft. Virtual Surfline Shortboard Competition: Saturday the 26th of April. This allows the surfer dudes and dudettes another 3 weeks for practising their surfing magic on Havok 4 conditions and how the waves now fire from the generators. This is of course a challenge, but one we are sure the virtual surfers will be able to handle!

Seems the “powers that be” have been making the SLSA and Rezzable Surfline Shortboard Competition an uphill battle. Surfline is relatively new to the Second Life surfing community and this competition is to make our presence known. First date given to us did not work since it was Easter. Ok, no problem, we went with the second date. I pulled a few strings and got 2 vacant sims ready, with the capable help of Kalani Koga and LittleToe Bartlett. We got a surf sim and a pro board shop all ready and lovely for this upcoming event. Surfers were practising and we were all set. Then SL shut down for more hours than any of us cared for and forced the SLSA to cancel the competition.

Ok, ok, we all know things in SL are contingent on the grid being open but this was just beyond frustrating. With Havok4 forced on us before the glitches were worked out, boards rezzed underwater, and waves refused to sync. But we pushed on, and did the best possible with conditions Lindens would not even be able to surf in. Then the grid shut down and it just proved once again, nothing in Second Life can be set in stone.

On the bright side of this all? We learned a whole lot about surfing – real and virtual – and about the necessities for a great virtual surfing area. And you can be sure, we will implement all that newly acquired knowledge in the ‘make over’ of the Surfline sims we have in mind. Surfline will rock your boards!

Was sadly enough postponed because of grid lockdown at that time. The 26th of April it is now! =)

okies, even better so I will be there with my sl counterpart.. could you update the event date? is still set up for the 5th.. cheers

I did even better, changed the event date and event poster! ;) Your SL counterpart, do you mean your SL avie, or did you get hooked.. euhm.. partnered in SL? =))

And it seems I messed up.. I wanted to add a ‘news’ and then I by accent changed this one. Could you make it an event again? (I can make news out of an event, but no event out of news. =d)
