Announcing... The Second Life Secret Library
News submitted by Hotspur Otoole 03 Jul 08
Some colleagues of mine (Nabilah Nadir, Eva Bellambi, Exrex Somme) and myself have created a new inworld Book Discussion Group using the external website GOODREADS. Goodreads is a wonderful FREE service that allows you to maintain virtual “bookshelf” collections online. You can see a few of my “custom bookshelves” in the right sidebar under “The Virtual Book Club” on the right sidebar here. Goodreads makes forming book and author discussion groups/fan groups absurdly simple. Since many of us Second Life types are literate and love reading, a book discussion group of Second Life players sounds like a grand experiment to us. So, without further ado, I present:
Membership is simple.. it’s an invitational group for Second Life participants only. If you want to join up, contact Hotspur OToole, Eva Bellambi or Nabila Nadir in world. You’ll need to create an account to participate. If you want an invitation, you’ll need to have a working email address for me to send an invite to. That’s about it.
Privacy freaks: Note the name I signed up under (wink wink).
Membership is open to any Second Life participant who is mature and treats others with respect and friendship. The subject is books, and those elements of Second Life that are tangential to books, such as the burgeoning inworld library scene.
Hope to see you in the Secret Library!
